The VP activities with Associate Professor Paul Ginns continued on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. This week's meeting discussed learning design based on Cognitive Load Theory (CLT). The lecture started at 07.30 by reviewing the material from the previous meeting. After walking for about 15 minutes, he continued the material related to learning design based on CLT.

Nowadays, the development of technology is growing very fast. This has both positive and negative impacts. To reduce the negative impact, several skills are needed, one of which is higher order thinking and needs to be taught early on. The Mathematics Education study program at Yogyakarta State University bridges prospective teachers to teach these skills through the course “HOTS mathematics study”.

On March 4, 2023, a Saturday morning in early March, the workshop to accelerate the preparation of the thesis as an effort to achieve the ideal study period for Mathematics Education class of 2020 reached its peak. This workshop presented speakers who focused on providing material related to searching for references, synthesizing, and motivational strategies for completing the thesis. The first speaker, Mrs. Wahyu Setyaningrum S.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D., started the first session at 07:00 WIB.

The second session of the workshop on accelerating the preparation of mathematics education students' theses was held on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The first resource person, Mrs. Dr. R. Rosnawati at 08:00 WIB, gave an explanation related to the focus and purpose of the thesis. She discussed what needs to be written in the background, problem identification, and problem formulation. The explanation was not just skin deep, but in-depth. She also gave examples of good and appropriate writing.
