Pre-service PPG Teaching Practitioner Program for Mathematics Study Area

The curriculum change from Curriculum 2013 (K13) to Merdeka Curriculum is a big challenge for educators. Yogyakarta State University (UNY), as one of the leading higher education institutions, is committed to supporting prospective educators in facing this transition. To support this effort, UNY organizes a Teaching Practitioner Program designed to enrich the knowledge and pedagogical skills of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) students in the field of mathematics.

This program presents experienced practitioners in the field of education to share knowledge and experience directly with students. Through this program, students will get a comprehensive education that integrates academic theory with practical applications in the field. This activity was held for two days on July 4-5, 2024 at the PPG Mathematics Room FMIPA UNY by presenting three mathematics expert practitioners, namely Mrs. Dwi Hartini, M.Pd., Mathematics Teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Pakem; Mrs. Titin Apriliati, M.Sc., Mathematics Teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Wonosari; and Mrs. Laksmi Indrawati, S.Pd., Mathematics Teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Sleman.

The main topic discussed in this activity was differentiated learning. The practitioners explained how differentiated learning experiences were implemented in their respective schools. The explanation includes learning preparation, implementation, closing, learning implementation solutions, and learning analysis. In the second meeting, students conducted a case study on differentiated learning and then learned to develop teaching modules. This activity is expected to enrich students' pedagogical knowledge and skills, prepare them to become more innovative and adaptive teachers, and be able to equip themselves with relevant skills for the future.
