WEBINAR SERIES #3 2025 Innovative Learning through the Deep Learning Approach

The Mathematics Education Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Yogyakarta State University (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta) successfully held Webinar Series #3 of 2025. This webinar took place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, with the theme “Innovative Learning through the Deep Learning Approach.”
The event was opened by Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si., M.Kom., who stated that the aim of Webinar Series #3 was to create a space for mathematics learning that not only emphasizes depth of thinking but also connects concepts with real-life contexts and the cultural values we uphold.
The first speaker, Mr. Suryantoro, S.Pd., delivered a presentation titled “Implementing Innovative Learning through the Deep Learning Approach.” He explained how the application of deep learning can enhance students’ conceptual understanding through student-centered strategies and the integration of digital technology.
The first session lasted for 45 minutes and featured a very dynamic discussion. Afterward, the committee invited participants to join an interactive ice-breaking quiz to relax their minds and improve focus for the next session. Participants were highly enthusiastic in taking part in the quiz, which was guided by the ice-breaking team of Webinar Series #3. Attractive prizes were awarded to three selected participants who answered correctly.
Following the ice-breaking session, the second speaker, Prof. Dr. Marsigit, M.A., presented a topic entitled “Realizing Deep Learning through Ethnomathematics.” In his presentation, Prof. Marsigit explained how local wisdom and Indonesian culture can be integrated into mathematics learning to create a more meaningful and in-depth learning experience.
The webinar, professionally moderated by Mrs. Siti Kholifah, M.Pd., was highly interactive. Participants, ranging from lecturers, students, and teachers to education practitioners, actively asked questions during the Q&A session. A variety of critical and constructive questions were raised regarding the practical implementation of deep learning in the classroom.
Webinar Series #3 successfully facilitated an inspiring discussion and provided new insights into innovative mathematics learning through the deep learning approach in the digital era. Through this event, the Mathematics Education Department of FMIPA UNY continues to contribute positively to the development of more creative, innovative, and relevant mathematics education aligned with the needs of 21st-century education in Indonesia.
