Dissemination of Research Results on Mathematical Literacy (Numeracy)

The Tri Dharma of Higher Education is the three obligations contained in higher education. One of these obligations is community service. In order to carry out the obligation of service, the Department of Mathematics Education FMIPA UNY held a Community Partnership Empowerment PkM activity. This activity targets MGMP of Mathematics for Sleman Regency Senior High School. This PkM activity was led by Mrs. Endah Retnowati, a lecturer in Mathematics Education MIPA UNY. The theme of the PkM is Teaching Modules and Digital Media Oriented to Literacy Skills as the Development of TPACK for Sleman Senior High School Mathematics Teachers.

Thursday, July 27, 2023, a seminar was held at SMA N 1 Ngaglik which coincided with the regular meeting of the Sleman Regency Senior High School Mathematics MGMP. Mrs. Endah Retnowati, Ph.D gave a seminar entitled “Dissemination of Research Results on Mathematical Literacy (Numeracy)”.

Many teaching practitioners misunderstand that mathematical literacy is different from numeracy. Ms. Endah straightened out that mathematical literacy is another name for numeracy. She explained the history of the origin of the two terms. In addition, Ms. Endah Retnowati described the results of research results related to numeracy skills that have been conducted.

The next agenda which is a continuation of today's activity is scheduled for August 3, 2023. The activity is planned to be held at UNY. Furthermore, teachers will be given training materials in making digital learning media to bridge students in mastering numeracy skills.
