WEBINAR SERIES #3 2024: Innovations in Digital Mathematics Learning

Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University, once again held its Webinar Series on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The third edition of this series carried the theme “Innovations in Digital Mathematics Learning”, featuring two speakers: Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si., M.Kom., and Dr. Muda Nurul Khikmawati, S.Kom., M.Cs. The event was conducted online via the Zoom platform and streamed live through the Mathematics Education UNY YouTube channel.
The program opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si., M.Kom., Coordinator of the Undergraduate Mathematics Education Program. In her address, she highlighted that digital technology has transformed many aspects of life, including education. One of the greatest challenges for educators today is how to harness technological developments to improve the quality of teaching, particularly in mathematics. Through this webinar, participants were encouraged to expand their knowledge and find inspiration for innovative teaching methods that can be implemented in classrooms.
The first speaker, Dr. Muda Nurul Khikmawati, S.Kom., M.Cs., presented on strategies for implementing digitally assisted mathematics learning in the classroom. She also explained what teachers need to prepare and the challenges they may encounter when adopting digital-based instruction.
Following this, Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si., M.Kom., delivered a presentation titled “Innovations in Digital Mathematics Learning through the Use of Interactive Media Tools.” She elaborated on the role of innovation and technology in mathematics education and introduced digital tools that can foster creative thinking skills—an essential competence in today’s modern world.
Moderated by Mr. Ilham Rizkianto, S.Pd., M.Sc., the webinar proceeded dynamically with an engaging Q&A session, where lecturers, students, and education practitioners actively participated by raising insightful questions.
With more than 150 participants joining online, Webinar Series #3 successfully provided an inspiring discussion on the future of mathematics learning in the digital era. The Department of Mathematics Education, FMIPA UNY, continues to strive to make a positive contribution to the advancement of more creative and innovative mathematics education in Indonesia.
