Workshop on the Utilization of GeoGebra Classroom as an Innovation in Mathematics Learning

The Community Service Team (PkM) from the Department of Mathematics Education, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), successfully conducted a training program on the GeoGebra application for teachers who are members of the Mathematics Subject Teacher Association (MGMP) of Maarif Foundation Senior and Vocational High Schools. The community service activity, entitled “Utilization of GeoGebra Classroom as an Innovation in Mathematics Learning,” was held at SMK Pembangunan Karangmojo.

The training program consisted of three stages: an offline session on August 22, 2024, independent learning, and an online session on September 5, 2024. The workshop materials included a refresher on GeoGebra software, an introduction to GeoGebra Classroom, and the development of teaching modules using GeoGebra Classroom. This initiative aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in integrating digital technologies, particularly the GeoGebra application, into mathematics instruction.

The activity was enthusiastically attended by teachers of Maarif Foundation Senior and Vocational High Schools across Gunungkidul Regency. The UNY PkM Team, consisting of Himmawati Puji Lestari, M.Si., Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, M.Kom., Dr. Atmini Dhoruri, M.S., and Ilham Riskianto, M.Sc., assisted by three master’s students and two undergraduate students of Mathematics Education, delivered training ranging from the basics of GeoGebra usage to its application in visualizing complex mathematical concepts.

This training is expected to improve teachers’ abilities to present learning materials in a more interactive and engaging way through GeoGebra, thereby making mathematics learning more effective and enjoyable for students.
