Follow-up Meeting for the ICCLR Multimedia Workshop: Focusing on the Analysis of Design and Practice Evaluation

To accelerate the development of participants’ competencies, the Multimedia Workshop Based on Cognitive Load Theory – Batch 1 continued with its second session on Saturday (August 1, 2026). Still held at the Master’s and Doctoral Building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), the second session focused intensively on strengthening participants’ practical skills in designing and developing learning multimedia based on the principles of Cognitive Load Theory (CLT).
The session began with a presentation entitled “Multimedia Design Principles” by the Director of ICCLR, Endah Retnowati, Ph.D. The session provided a comprehensive exploration of key principles for designing effective multimedia while minimizing excessive cognitive load on students. Participants then took part in an interactive consultation session, where they had the opportunity to receive direct and insightful feedback from Endah Retnowati, Ph.D. on the multimedia design drafts they had developed during the previous session.
As the workshop moved into the practical session, the classroom became increasingly dynamic. Participants were invited to critically examine an example of multimedia development for trigonometry, facilitated by Bayu Setiawan, S.Pd. The exploration then continued with an example of multimedia development for similar figures, facilitated by Tista Sugiarti, M.Pd. These two practical sessions provided participants with hands-on experience in transforming CLT principles into instructional visualizations for mathematics learning.
The day’s activities concluded with an independent practice session. This session served as a crucial opportunity for participants to directly implement improvements and refine their multimedia designs based on the materials and valuable feedback they had received throughout the workshop.
