SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari Teachers Enhance Digital Literacy through Educational Website Development Training

Klaten – As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening teachers' competencies in responding to the digital transformation of education, the Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), organized a Community Service (PkM) program entitled "Strengthening Teachers' Digital Literacy through Educational Website Development Training." The training was held at SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari, Klaten Regency, on 9 July 2026. A total of 53 teachers enthusiastically participated in the program as part of their professional development in technology-enhanced teaching and learning.

The program was officially opened by the Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari, Mr. Sigit Toto Mursito, S.Si., M.M., who emphasized that the ability to utilize digital technology has become an essential competency that teachers must continuously develop. He expressed his appreciation to the UNY Community Service Team for organizing a practice-oriented training program that could be directly implemented in classroom instruction.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si., M.Kom., Head of the Mathematics Education Study Program at UNY and Chair of the Community Service Team, emphasized that digital literacy extends beyond the ability to operate technological devices. It also encompasses the ability to design innovative learning experiences through the integration of various digital platforms and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"Teachers need to be able to manage a wide range of digital learning resources so that learning becomes more flexible, engaging, and responsive to students' needs. An educational website can serve as a central hub that integrates various learning media and activities, making them easily accessible anytime," said Dr. Kuswari Hernawati.

The training began with a presentation by Rofi Amiyani, M.Pd., who introduced participants to the use of various digital learning platforms, including Quizizz, Mentimeter, and several other educational applications. Participants were also introduced to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist in developing instructional materials, designing learning activities, and generating more creative and efficient educational content.

In the subsequent session, Dr. Kuswari Hernawati provided intensive hands-on guidance in developing educational websites using Google Sites. Through a learning-by-doing approach, each participant was guided step by step—from designing the website structure and organizing page layouts to integrating digital content such as instructional videos, teaching materials, assessments, and interactive learning media into a single, user-friendly learning portal.

The training atmosphere was highly interactive and engaging. Participants actively exchanged ideas, shared teaching experiences, and explored the features introduced during the workshop. The practical learning approach enabled teachers to develop educational website prototypes that could be immediately utilized as instructional media in their classrooms.

Through this Community Service program, the Department of Mathematics Education, FMIPA UNY, hopes to strengthen teachers' confidence in developing innovative digital learning environments. Educational websites integrated with various learning applications and AI technologies are expected to broaden learning opportunities, enhance interaction between teachers and students, and support more effective, adaptive, and learner-centered education in line with the demands of 21st-century learning.

The program concluded with a reflection session, the presentation of commemorative tokens of appreciation, and a group photograph as a symbol of the continuing commitment to strengthening collaboration between Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and SMA Negeri 1 Wonosari in advancing technology-based educational innovation.
