The Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FMIPA UNY), welcomed a visiting professor from Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekasith Samsook, on May 6, 2026. The academic event was held in Meeting Room 3 of FMIPA UNY and attended by lecturers and students from the Department of Mathematics Education.

This activity was part of the department’s commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation and broadening global perspectives in mathematics and science education. In addition, the event reflected the growing collaboration between FMIPA UNY and various international partner universities in supporting educational innovation and research.

During the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekasith Samsook delivered a public lecture entitled Enhancing Science Learning through Artificial Intelligence Technologies. In his presentation, he explained the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in science learning, particularly to support data analysis, visualization, and data-driven decision-making processes in educational contexts.

One of the examples presented in the lecture was the use of AI in analyzing Thailand’s general election data through an AI-based website platform. Through this case study, participants were introduced to how AI technology can assist in processing and interpreting large-scale data, identifying patterns, and generating interactive visualizations more efficiently. The example also demonstrated how AI can help users interpret data more quickly and in a more accessible way.

The public lecture received enthusiastic responses from both lecturers and students. Participants actively engaged in discussions regarding the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into learning processes, research, and the development of educational technology in the future. The activity also encouraged participants to better understand the role of AI in creating more adaptive and innovative learning environments.

In addition to providing academic insights, this activity further strengthened the international partnership between the Department of Mathematics Education FMIPA UNY and Mahidol University. Through this collaboration, both institutions are expected to continue developing various academic activities such as faculty exchange, collaborative research, guest lectures, and other international programs that support the advancement of education and scientific innovation.
