Strengthening International Networks: FMIPA UNY Signs MoU with SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) has officially established a partnership with the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Mathematics through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held on Wednesday (April 16, 2025) at the FMIPA UNY Dean’s Meeting Room.
The signing was carried out by the Dean of FMIPA UNY and the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics. This MoU marks a strategic step in strengthening international networks and supporting the enhancement of mathematics education quality in the Southeast Asian region. The scope of the collaboration includes professional development for mathematics teachers, organizing international seminars and workshops, knowledge and experience exchange, as well as strengthening innovations in mathematics learning relevant to 21st-century needs.
In his remarks, the Dean of FMIPA UNY expressed his hope that this collaboration would open up opportunities for various forms of cooperation, such as teacher training, curriculum development, joint research, and faculty and student exchanges.
“Through this collaboration, we hope to jointly enhance the capacity of mathematics education, not only in Indonesia but also within the regional context,” said Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si. in his speech.
Meanwhile, SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics welcomed this partnership as part of its mission to improve the quality of educators and education personnel in the field of mathematics. The signing of this MoU represents FMIPA UNY’s commitment to supporting campus internationalization programs and addressing global challenges in mathematics education.
It is hoped that this collaboration will further enhance the quality of education and strengthen FMIPA UNY’s international partnerships and development initiatives. (ratna/witono)
