Flipped Classroom-based math lesson plan workshop: MGMP hopes to be involved in similar activities

Community Service (PPM) is one part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education that must be carried out by each lecturer in their respective work units. To realize this PPM, five lecturers from the Department of Mathematics Education who are members of PPM Group 4 provide free training to MGMP Mathematics SMP Bantul Regency. This year's PPM theme is focused on providing training in the preparation of Flipped Classroom-based learning designs (lesson plans) which focus on LMS practices using Edmodo and google classroom applications.

The theme selection is based on the needs of local mathematics teachers in learning during the Covid-19 period, especially in Bantul Regency. We all realize that learning during this pandemic certainly has its own challenges so that teachers need an up-to-date learning design, especially those based on technology or applications. Therefore, the training or workshop was carried out in three stages, namely on April 29, May 6, and June 10, 2021 with two online meetings via zoom meeting and one offline meeting at SMPN 1 Bantul. The training participants were 40 teachers from different schools who are members of the SMP Mathematics MGMP in Bantul Regency.

PPM was opened directly by the Head of the Mathematics Education Department represented by Mrs. Endah Retnwati, Ph.D. with the opening speaker directly by the head of PPM Group 4, Prof. Dr. Marsigit, MA with the title “Mathematics Learning Paradigm in the Covid 19 Era”, followed by the material “Activity Design in mathematics learning” by Prof. Dr. Sugiman, M.Si. On the next day the material was delivered by Dr. Ali Mahmudi with the material “Lesson Plan / RPP for Mathematics Learning during the Covid 19 Pandemic” followed by Mrs. Nila Mareta, M.Sc and Dr. Syukrul Hamdi who delivered the material “Use of Google Classroom and Edmodo in Flipped Classroom-based Learning”.

PPM was closed with the signing of proof of cooperation between the Mathematics Education Study Program of UNY and MGMP Mathematics SMP Bantul Regency which was followed by a very interesting material namely “Learning Video Making Techniques to support Flipped Classroom Learning” delivered by Dr. Syukrul Hamdi, Hadi Nur Rahman, and Muqid Virdaus. Through this training, teachers are expected to be facilitated, especially in preparing learning designs that are equipped with LMS development and learning videos that can be accessed by students. Teachers who participated in the training also felt very helpful and hoped that if there were follow-up activities from the training provided to be even more helpful in preparing designs and making learning videos, further Mr. Sudaryanta, M.Pd as the head of MGMP hoped to continue to be involved in similar activities. Therefore, the Department of Mathematics Education UNY is committed to being able to carry out similar PPM activities in the following years even with themes that are more interesting and needed by mathematics teachers in DIY and surrounding areas.
